All Family is A Gift From God!

Being part of a family is a gift from God, with laughter, love and appreciation we have for each other.  Families are sometimes dysfunctional but the loyalty we have within each other will never stop and the bond will never end.

Loyalty and Trustworthiness is an important value in my family, it is also shown in many different ways with unconditional love.  Loyalty and trustworthiness is about people who stay true to you behind your back. I am always down with you whether you are right or wrong, but I will always be truthful to you and tell you when you are wrong so I can help you get it right. My sister in-law said that she will stay committed to the family and she kept her word.

We have love and respect for each other even when things do not turn out right the first time. House rules in my family help us all be thankful and know that we are loved one by getting hugs and kisses during bad times. Respecting others, defines loyalty and trustworthiness. Respecting others also helps set a good impression of yourself for others.

No family is perfect, we all come in different shapes and sizes. The bond all families have is not one that is perfect, but with respect and love it does come close.

My Dairy Entry - Treasure Box

                                    Diary Entry
Father is sick
As my father and I lay in the old cold mouldy shed, I held his warm hands with tears and fear running down my face. I could feel the weakness in him. His face is cold and is very sick. I had a bad feeling in my gut that a day like this will come where my father is sick and will be leaving me real soon.

The Burial Day
As i'm standing, looking at the mans lowering my father down to his grave, I felt exhausted from digging up a whole to lay him in peace.

I’m speechless and dejected that I can’t see my father again but he’s resting in a better place now.

As I’m walking away, I can feel dust everywhere, covering up my clothes, I can feel the warmth of my father’s hands wrapping around me. I may not see him, but I know he’s with me every step on the way.

Will our lives ever be the same again?

As I looked back I could see people escape from their village as fast as they could or they will get trapped in with the smoke and gas all over the ground.

I could sense the smell of burnt trees, could also smell smokes with gas leaks covering up the village and people trying to escape.

I feel so frighten that the soldiers are doing such a thing and bombing the village, but I'm also shocked and this is the first time this has ever happened. I don't know what made them wanting to hurt us.

I could hear and see kids crying :( screaming '' I want my mummy and daddy".  I could also hear the shooting, and the voices of parents asking for help !. I burst into tears, when I saw kids lying on the ground, it got me so frighten and upset that I made sure the my brother was safe beside me. As we headed towards  the forest to find a place to stay after everything that has been happening for the past few days, we decided to sleep on the side of the road for one night because we were all exhausted from the long walk. We were laying on hard rocks and I felt cold and it was hard. My back was aching, all the rocks were sticking to me and pressing to my spine.

As I woke up to silence, I was glad that we were away from the violence and bombing that happened but I also needed to think about where would my brother and I would start our new journey. We had a discussion and decided to move to the nearest village. I had a bad feeling in my gut about moving on because I have to make new friends, don't know who to trust and I don't know if they will be friendly or not. I felt home sick not being able to see my parent's and relatives anymore.

Will our lives ever be the same?

Matariki !!

Matariki signals the Māori New Year. It's a time of renewal and celebration in New Zealand that begins with the rising of the Matariki star cluster (the Pleiades or Seven Sisters).  Matariki is a time to gather with family and friends to celebrate the beginning of the Maori New Year and to also plan for the future.

The seven stars Waiti, Waita, Waipunarangi, Tupu a Nuku, Tupu a Rangi and Ururangi are name after the seven sisters.

Many people celebrate Matariki in their own way, such as going to watch the walk of light at Pt England and having a big feast with their family's

Jacinda Adern is a Peacemaker !

In my opinion , Jacinda Ardern cared for those who lost there love ones during the shooting in Christchurch. She is a person who has a kind and clean heart, always willing to help others. Jacinda Ardern also showed emotion towards those who has lost there lives. She is an inspiration, Brave and intelligent Prime Minister.
                                                             We Are All One !!
I formed my opinion by listening to her International Women's Day Speech 2019 and Jacinda Ardern's first speech in Wellington Parliament after the Christchurch disaster 15/3/19.

First time ever making a glittery dark green play dough?

On the 18th of March 2019, my group and I made glittery dark green play dough for St Patrick’s Day as a class. We were given all the ingredients by our teacher and then we got into work. We wore hygienic surgical  gloves to mix the food colouring into all the dry ingredients to get the dark green colour of our dough. Then we used sparkly green glitter to shine the green dough.

Afterwards, my group and I formed different shapes and sizes, not only that but also formed the dough into a long slithery spiral to create a maze game. We used a white foam polystyrene ball and a coloured straw to blow the ball around our difficult maze game. I found the maze difficult because, it was hard for my foam ball to go up the ramps that my group have made and through the little door.

I had such a fun time making play dough, not only because it was my first time but forming the dough into a spiral with my classmates.

My Achievements of 2018 !!

In maths, I have learnt  a lot of ways how to solve math equations and what strategies will be easier and quicker for me to solve them. My next step in maths is to, use my maths skills that I have learnt to help me with my understanding in solving new math problems that I haven’t used before.

In Reading this year, I have been Reading novels which I find  interesting that would help me identify and understand the text that I have been reading about. Therefore I am going to achieve my reading comprehension by asking and answering questions that has been given to me from the text that I have been reading and doing some research about.

For writing, I have been writing explanations about the earth and more other things that would help me to keep up with my writing. I am going to achieve my writing skills by, using more interesting words to make my writing more interesting for my readers to read. Also making sure I have putted my capital letters, punctuation's and full stops in the correct order at all times.

For Religious Education this year, Ms Dines has given us tasks to complete and  to finish before the end of the year. I have learnt ways that Jesus helped others when they are sad, hurt and even helped those who doesn’t believe in God. I am going to achieve my goal by adding more details ( information) to explain what Jesus has done on earth to help others, before he has left, and his message that has been given to us.

For Topic, we have been working on a scientific experiment about electricity and what causes electricity. We also are working on a science experiment that we have chosen to work about. I am going to achieve my goal by, preparing all my ingredients together and to always focus not ( mucking around).

Will I ever get tagged?

Learning Intention:  I am learning to add greater detail and interest in ,u writing by using adjectives.

Will I ever get tag?

Today was sunny and bright,  At morning tea, the intermediate students raced to the top of the playground to see who would be the last person to reach the highest point !  The last person would be the tagger , we all raced like wild animals - because no one wanted to be the tagger.

We played a game of ball tiggy, it was girls versus boys. Boys were in first, they passed the ball to each other so fast and quickly moving as if they were the DC Flash, so that it will be easier for them to catch the girls. I screamed so loud like a girl from a horror movie, and ran so fast using my skills from rugby that I have learnt, so that the boys wouldn’t tag me with the soccer ball.  The girls helped each other passing the ball round and round in circle to make it easier to catch the boys enabling us to tag them faster.

We used different kinds of strategies to catch the boys like, all the girls running round in circles passing the ball to each other, side stepping the boys, pretending that we are invisible and more other things. We also acted like animals in the jungle to distract the boys and even dancing !!!

I had a lot of fun playing with my classmates and other students, it was funny and enjoyable too.

Bike safety

Bike Safety

Before you ride your bike make sure to check and see if there are
parts of your bike broken. At night when you go out on a bike ride always
wear a safety vest so that people can see you clearly and so that they will
know which lane you are going on.

When you’re on the road riding your bike make sure to wear a helmet at
all times for safety and to always check and see if there are cars coming by.
Make sure to ask an adult for help if you are stuck on learning how to
ride a bike and always have an adult with you at all times when you go out
for bike riding.

Kids at the age of 3-5 always have to be supervised by an adult and use
training wheels until they are confident. Kids at the age of 10 and over
should be responsible enough to know about their bike safety and how to
keep themselves safe riding a bike at all times.

I really enjoyed watching Lady of Fatima with the community!

On Sunday afternoon, my family community and I went to Room 9 to watch a movie called Lady of Fatima.

When we were waiting for my mum to drop us off to  church, Lupe and I had to take a basket of clothes and some pegs to hang out the washing. And this was to be done at the back of our house. When we had finished our chores, we hopped into the car. It took us 15 minutes to get there

When we got there, my dad sister and I went to Room 9 because it is where we are  watching our movie. We prayed and  said the Divine Mercy before we watched the movie. The parish community prepared food for us and also food for everyone to share. Soon it was time for us to watch our movie.

The movie that we watched was about a little girl who saw Mary and when she told her family they did not believe her. Her mum even smacked her.

My friend Hope and I went back to the food table to get ourselves more food to share with our friends. We had chicken and chips, cookies, sandwiches, hot dogs and more.

While we were watching our movie, I went to the back of the room to look after my cousin's baby because we was running around and making too much noise.

Lastly Father Andrew told us we will be having a movie night every after two weeks and he told everyone to take some food home.

The part of the movie I liked best was when the little girl saw Mary and everything that Mary said to the little girl, she obeyed. I want to be like the little girl.

Learning Intention: We are learning to follow the structure of a recount.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I write the introduction, the events and a conclusion about my weekend.

I love going to the night market!

In the holidays my family and I went to the night market in Pakuranga to buy food for us to eat for dinner.

First my aunty and my cousins came over to our house to get canned goods for my my baby cousins  birthday celebration the following day.

When my cousins left my aunty told us that she will take us to the night market .We left our house immediately before aunty changed  her mind. We were all feeling excited!

At the night market my sister and I bought teriyaki chicken and fried rice for us to share. My aunty bought my brothers and my little sister to chicken and rice for them to share as well.

While we were  getting our food, we heard people singing karaoke on the other side near the hat collection store.

Later on, we asked our aunty if she would take us to her house so we could play with her puppy.

My favourite part of the day was when we were playing with my auntie's puppy because he is so cute!

Learning Intention: We are learning to follow the structure of a recount.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I write the introduction, the events and a conclusion about my holiday.
